South Africa’s Deputy
President Paul Mashatile and his delegation have undertaken a guided tour of
Mindray Bio-Medical Electronics’ facilities in Shenzhen, where they were
introduced to advanced medical technologies and artificial intelligence
solutions applied in primary healthcare services.
The visit formed part of a
working engagement with the company’s senior leadership, led by President Hao
Wu, ahead of bilateral discussions aimed at strengthening cooperation in health
innovation and medical technology.
During the tour, the
delegation was taken through a range of cutting-edge diagnostic and healthcare
systems developed by Mindray, highlighting the company’s growing role in
integrating AI-driven solutions into modern healthcare delivery.
The engagement is part of
the Deputy President’s second leg of a working visit to the People’s Republic
of China, which seeks to build on outcomes from the 2024 Shenzhen Presidential
Business Forum. The visit includes meetings with key business leaders and
technology firms as South Africa continues to deepen economic and strategic
partnerships with Chinese private and state-linked enterprises.
Officials say the
engagements are aimed at expanding collaboration in key sectors, including
healthcare innovation, technology transfer, and industrial development, while
supporting South Africa’s broader objectives of strengthening its health
systems and advancing digital transformation in public services.
The visit underscores
ongoing efforts to foster sustainable partnerships that enhance
innovation-driven growth and improve access to advanced technologies within
South Africa’s healthcare sector.
