The
Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hendy has held
high-level talks with Beni Suef Governor Abdullah Abdel Aziz, focusing on
expanding digital cooperation and improving ICT services across the
governorate.
The
meeting, held at the governorate’s general bureau, brought together senior
officials from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology Egypt
(MCIT) and local authorities to advance initiatives aimed at enhancing public
service delivery, strengthening institutional digital development, and building
citizens’ digital skills.
As
part of the visit, the minister and governor witnessed the signing of two
memoranda of understanding (MoUs) designed to accelerate digital transformation
and promote digital community development in Beni Suef.

The
first agreement focuses on strengthening digital institutional capacity within
the governorate’s administrative structures, including the establishment and
operation of information systems and digital transformation units. It also aims
to enhance the efficiency of public service delivery, improve resource
utilisation, and provide capacity-building programmes for government employees
while promoting digital literacy among citizens.
The
second agreement targets digital community development, with initiatives aimed
at empowering youth, women, and persons with disabilities through ICT tools.
Programmes under the agreement include training in programming, artificial
intelligence, entrepreneurship, and digital marketing, as well as the expansion
of e-learning centres and awareness campaigns on safe technology use.
Hendy
said the selection of Beni Suef for his first field visit outside Greater Cairo
reflects the government’s focus on developing Upper Egypt and positioning the
governorate as a model for implementing national digital strategies. He noted
that ongoing investments in digital infrastructure, innovation hubs, and skills
development programmes are contributing to job creation and economic growth.

Abdel
Aziz said the agreements reflect strong coordination between national and local
authorities and reaffirm the government’s commitment to advancing digital
transformation and improving service delivery.
The
agreements build on previous cooperation between MCIT and the governorate,
which has delivered training programmes, digital literacy initiatives, and
technology-driven services, including telemedicine solutions implemented
through local healthcare institutions.
Officials
indicated that continued collaboration will further strengthen Beni Suef’s role
as a hub for digital innovation and skills development, while supporting
broader national efforts to build a competitive digital economy.
