Angola
has expanded digital connectivity to remote border regions through a
satellite-based initiative leveraging the ANGOSAT-2 platform.
The
project, implemented under the Conecta Angola Comercial programme, forms part
of broader efforts to modernise border infrastructure and improve service
delivery. It is being carried out in coordination with the Coordinated Border
Management Committee, led by the Ministry of Finance and co-coordinated by the
Ministry of the Interior, with participation from the Ministry of
Telecommunications Information Technologies and Social Communication
(MINTTICS).

As
part of the latest phase, a Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) antenna has
been installed at the Luvo Border Post under the supervision of the Central
Technical Unit, led by the General Tax Administration Angola (AGT). The
installation enables direct connectivity to ANGOSAT-2, significantly improving
internet access in the area.
The
new infrastructure facilitates local communication and integration with
national networks, supporting more efficient border operations and enhancing
formal trade activities. Officials say the system is particularly critical in
regions where conventional telecommunications infrastructure remains limited or
unavailable.

The
initiative is aligned with the government’s strategy to promote digital
inclusion by extending connectivity to underserved and hard-to-reach
communities. It also supports the development of the local innovation
ecosystem, with national startups playing a key role in implementation,
contributing to entrepreneurship and job creation among young people.
Authorities
indicate that satellite-based solutions will continue to play a central role in
bridging connectivity gaps and advancing Angola’s digital transformation
agenda.
