Mauritius Telecom has hosted
an artificial intelligence (AI) workshop aimed at helping businesses move from
exploring the potential of AI to putting the technology into practical use.
The workshop, themed “AI in
Action: From Promise to Proof,” brought business decision makers together for
an afternoon of real use cases and live demonstrations.
Mauritius Telecom Chief
Executive Officer Veemal Gungadin shared how the company's teams are already
using AI to improve internal processes, including lessons learned from its
implementation.
Colin Iles also demonstrated
how unicorns leverage generative AI, while Mauritius Telecom Chief Innovation
Officer Avinash Soobul joined experts on a panel discussion focused on
translating AI ideas into practical next steps.
The event was organised in
partnership with Silicon Overdrive and SentinelOne.
Mauritius Telecom said the
workshop marked another step in a journey that began in August with the
company's Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Amazon Web Services (AWS),
followed by an AI workshop with public sector leaders and the latest engagement
with businesses.
The company noted that each
initiative targets a different audience but reflects a shared conviction that
“Mauritius is ready to move from talking about AI to using it.”
