Gabon is advancing four
major digital transformation projects aimed at modernising public
administration, improving access to government services and strengthening the
country’s digital sovereignty.
The projects were reviewed
during the sixth session of the Steering Committee of the e-Gabon-SIS project
and the Gabon Digital programme, held at the Hôtel de la Sablière under the
chairmanship of Minister of Digital Economy, Digitalisation and Innovation
Mark-Alexandre Doumba.
The meeting brought together
several members of the Government to assess progress on four priority projects:
modernisation of the Single Master File and its gradual migration to an
integrated human resources management system; deployment of an interoperability
platform; implementation of the National Digital Identity System; and
commissioning of a government messaging system before the end of 2026.
The interoperability
platform is expected to enable government systems to communicate and securely
exchange reliable data, while the National Digital Identity System will
strengthen digital identification and facilitate citizens’ access to public
services.
The government messaging
system is intended to secure professional communications within the
administration and improve the flow of information between public institutions.
The modernisation of the
Single Master File and its migration to an integrated human resources
management system will also enable public officials to manage their careers and
administrative procedures more efficiently, reducing the need for physical travel.
For citizens, the digital
identity system and interoperable government platforms are expected to reduce
the need to submit the same documents repeatedly and simplify access to public
services.
The combined deployment of
the four projects is expected to make public administration faster, more
coordinated and more secure while strengthening the protection of government
and citizens’ data.
The initiatives share a
broader objective of simplifying administrative procedures, reducing delays and
sustainably improving the quality of public services.
The digitalisation programme
reflects the vision of President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema for a more
modern, connected and digitally sovereign Gabonese State.
The National Agency for
Digital Infrastructure and Frequencies (ANINF) is playing a central role in
implementing the digital transformation agenda. Its Director General, Alberto
Mounguengui Moudoki, who chairs the Technical Committee, reaffirmed the agency’s
role in supporting state digitalisation and securing the national digital
space.
