The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa has commenced a series of provincial workshops aimed at supporting applicants in navigating the Invitation to Pre-Register (ITP-R) process for community television broadcasting services and radio frequency spectrum licences.

The first session was held in Centurion as part of a broader national outreach programme designed to strengthen stakeholder understanding of regulatory requirements and improve the quality of licence applications.

During the workshop, participants engaged directly with ICASA officials, receiving detailed guidance on the ITP-R process, including key eligibility criteria and compliance obligations. The session also provided an opportunity for prospective applicants to seek clarification on procedural and technical aspects of the application framework.

ICASA indicated that the initiative is intended to enhance transparency, promote compliance, and build capacity among stakeholders seeking to participate in the broadcasting and telecommunications sectors.

The authority noted that the workshop series will continue across other provinces, forming part of its efforts to ensure a more inclusive and well-informed licensing process for community broadcasting and spectrum allocation.
