Namibia’s
Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, has
launched the 2026 Cybersecurity Incident Management Guidelines in Ondangwa,
Oshana Region, marking a step toward strengthening the country’s digital
security framework.

The
event was attended by Oshana Regional Governor Hofni Iipinge, who delivered the
welcoming remarks and expressed the region’s readiness to support the
implementation of the guidelines and advance digital resilience initiatives.
The
newly introduced guidelines are designed to enhance cybersecurity across
institutions by providing operational standards and best practices for
detecting, responding to, and recovering from cyber incidents. They aim to
promote coordinated efforts among stakeholders in managing cybersecurity
threats.

Speaking
at the launch, Theofelus urged organisations to adopt a proactive, risk-based
approach to cybersecurity, emphasizing the importance of identifying
vulnerabilities and implementing effective control measures to mitigate
potential threats.
The
initiative forms part of Namibia’s broader efforts to strengthen its digital
infrastructure and ensure secure adoption of technology across sectors.
