Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Raafat Hendy, has inaugurated the largest quick commerce distribution hub in the Middle East and North Africa for Talabat Egypt, marking a significant milestone in the country’s expanding digital economy and e-commerce sector.

The facility, developed in partnership with Hassan Allam Utilities, is located within the YANMU East Logistics Park along the Cairo-Suez Road. Spanning approximately 27,000 square metres, the hub is designed to process up to one million items daily and currently serves Talabat Mart operations across 12 cities, with plans to expand coverage to 17 cities.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior government officials, including Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid, Minister of Trade and Industry Khaled Hashem, and CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), Ahmed Elzaher.

Hendy noted that the investment reflects growing confidence in Egypt’s digital infrastructure and its potential as a regional hub for e-commerce and technology services. He highlighted the role of advanced infrastructure and the rapid growth of digital platforms in attracting international investment and supporting expansion in the digital economy.

The hub operates on integrated real-time systems connecting inventory, supply chain, and retail operations, and incorporates artificial intelligence to forecast demand, optimise inventory allocation, and automate logistics processes. These capabilities are expected to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance responsiveness across the supply chain.

Talabat Chief Executive Officer Toon Gyssels described the project as a critical step in strengthening operational reliability and supporting sustainable growth in the fast-evolving quick commerce sector. General Manager of Talabat Mart Mohamed Sekkina added that the facility represents a shift toward smart logistics infrastructure, designed to deliver faster and more reliable services in line with global standards.

The hub is also expected to support local producers, suppliers, and traders by improving market access and enhancing service delivery, including pricing competitiveness and availability of goods.

Talabat Egypt continues to play a strategic role within the company’s regional operations, employing approximately 3,100 staff. Its technology and shared services hub supports multiple markets across the region, contributing significantly to product development and customer service functions.

The development underscores Egypt’s growing position as a regional centre for digital innovation, logistics, and e-commerce growth.
