The
African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat and the Bank of Ghana have held
high-level discussions aimed at strengthening cooperation to align financial
systems with the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area.

The
meeting brought together AfCFTA Secretary-General Wamkele Mene and Bank of
Ghana Governor Johnson Asiamah, who explored strategies to enhance the
efficiency of cross-border financial transactions across the continent.
Key
areas of focus included reducing the cost of cross-border payments, leveraging
digital innovation to modernize financial infrastructure, and improving access
to finance for businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises.
Both parties underscored the need for a more integrated and efficient financial
ecosystem to support the growth of intra-African trade.

The
engagement reflects ongoing efforts under the AfCFTA framework to address
structural barriers to trade and unlock greater economic opportunities through
enhanced financial connectivity and innovation.
