The
Swedish Ambassador to Ethiopia, Magnus Lennartsen, has visited the Ethiopian
Artificial Intelligence Institute to learn about its initiatives in artificial
intelligence and digital services.

The
ambassador was received by the Institute’s Director General, Werku Gachena, who
highlighted the institute’s provision of cloud-based AI services to both public
and private institutions through its data center. Dr. Gachena also showcased
the work of the institute in advancing AI innovation and supporting Ethiopia’s
goal of becoming a regional center of excellence in artificial intelligence.
Ambassador
Lennartsen commended Ethiopia for its commitment to AI development and praised
the creativity and talent of young Ethiopian innovators in the field.
Discussions during the visit explored opportunities for further collaboration
between Ethiopia and Sweden, particularly in academic partnerships and private
sector engagement in AI.

The
visit underscored the potential for strengthened bilateral cooperation in
artificial intelligence and the role of the Ethiopian AI Institute in fostering
innovation and talent development across the country.
