Visa
has launched a programme introducing tokenised digital cards in Mauritius,
aiming to enhance the security, convenience, and trust of digital transactions.
The initiative was unveiled as part of Visa’s efforts to support the country’s
growing digital economy and high connectivity.

Speaking
on the launch, Yared Endale, Head of Visa Eastern Africa and Country Manager
for Ethiopia, stated that the initiative goes beyond a product rollout,
representing a step towards building a seamless and inclusive digital payments
ecosystem. The tokenised cards leverage technologies such as real-time payments
and tokenisation to make transactions faster and more secure.

The
programme also emphasizes collaboration with banks, fintechs, governments, and
merchants to deliver local solutions with global reach. Visa aims to expand
financial access, empower small businesses, and enable cross-border trade,
allowing entrepreneurs in Mauritius to conduct transactions confidently and
efficiently with international partners.
