MTN Benin has called for
affordable connectivity, clear and fair regulations, and stronger cybersecurity
collaboration to support Africa’s digital transformation, highlighting the
complementary roles of satellite and terrestrial networks in expanding access
to digital services.
The company contributed to
discussions on the continent’s digital transformation challenges at the ONE
AFRICA DIGITAL FORUM 2026, where connectivity, satellite services and cyber
resilience featured among the key topics.
Chary Doumbia, General
Manager for Enterprise Business at MTN Benin, stressed the importance of
combining satellite and terrestrial networks to extend connectivity.
“Satellite and terrestrial
networks are not competitors, they are complementary. For this complementarity
to benefit as many people as possible, we need affordable services and clear
and fair rules of the game,” Doumbia said.
MTN Benin Chief Technology
and Information Officer Titi Fakuade highlighted the need to build secure
digital ecosystems as technologies such as 5G and the Internet of Things expand
across the continent.
“With 5G and the Internet of
Things, it is no longer just a question of connecting Africa, but of building
trustworthy digital ecosystems. Security must be built into the design stage,
and collaboration is key to building our collective resilience,” Fakuade said.
Through its contributions to
the forum, MTN Benin reaffirmed its ambition to support an inclusive, resilient
and sustainable digital ecosystem capable of meeting the growing needs of
African citizens, businesses and institutions.
The company said robust
infrastructure, an environment of trust and strong collaboration among
stakeholders were essential to building Africa’s digital future.
