The World Bank Group has
highlighted the potential of artificial intelligence to support health workers,
farmers and educators in developing economies, emphasising the need for
practical tools adapted to local needs.
The discussion took place at
the Global AI & Digital Summit in Seoul, South Korea, during a session
titled “Closing the Gap: The Promise of Artificial Intelligence in Developing
Economies.”
The session focused on how
AI could help people do more, enable businesses to grow and extend the reach of
services.
The World Bank Group’s
Digital & AI team said the opportunity lay in developing practical AI
applications tailored to local needs, rather than focusing solely on building
the biggest models.
The approach emphasises
using AI to solve problems that matter, including supporting frontline workers
and improving the delivery of services in developing economies.
