Namibia has launched its
inaugural Namibia Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Mukopano, bringing together
government, the private sector, civil society and development partners to
strengthen collaboration and promote more meaningful and sustainable national
development.
The event marked the
beginning of a collective effort to translate corporate social investment into
measurable benefits for communities and the wider Namibian economy.
In a statement delivered on
her behalf by Ambassador Kaire Mbuende, President of the Republic of Namibia,
Her Excellency Dr Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah called on Corporate Namibia to move
beyond symbolic contributions and treat CSI as a genuine investment in communities,
skills development and long-term socio-economic opportunities.
The President emphasised the
need for stronger alignment between corporate social investment and national
development priorities, with businesses encouraged to focus on initiatives
capable of creating lasting impact.
The Mukopano brought
together stakeholders from across government, business, civil society and
development organisations to strengthen partnerships and explore ways of
coordinating efforts towards shared national objectives.
The initiative is expected
to create a platform for greater collaboration and accountability among
stakeholders involved in corporate social investment while encouraging
investments that deliver tangible outcomes for Namibian communities.
The launch signals Namibia’s
intention to strengthen the role of corporate social investment as a
contributor to skills development, community empowerment and sustainable
socio-economic development.
