The MTN Group Fintech Annual Summit 2026 has concluded after three days of discussions focused on how Africa can move from expanding financial access to delivering greater and more meaningful financial impact for people and communities.

The summit brought together leaders and stakeholders from across the fintech ecosystem to examine the future of financial services, with discussions covering financial health, economic participation, artificial intelligence, payments, open finance and emerging technologies.

Participants reflected on the progress achieved across Africa’s digital financial services sector while examining the opportunities and challenges that remain in turning widespread access into deeper financial inclusion and stronger economic participation.

A central message from the summit was that technology can unlock new possibilities in financial services, but its impact will depend on stronger collaboration among banks, fintech companies, regulators, payment providers and technology partners.

The discussions highlighted the need for stakeholders across the financial ecosystem to work together in developing solutions that respond to the practical needs of customers and communities.

The summit also examined the potential of artificial intelligence, open finance and other emerging technologies to reshape financial services and create new opportunities for consumers and businesses.

MTN said the discussions reflected both the progress already made in Africa’s fintech sector and the scale of the opportunity still ahead.
