Cameroon’s national telecommunications operator, CAMTEL, and the National Association of Private Institutions of Higher Education of Cameroon (ANIPES) have signed a Framework Agreement aimed at accelerating the digital transformation and modernisation of private higher education institutions across the country.

The agreement was signed on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, during a ceremony held at CAMTEL’s headquarters, bringing the operator’s connectivity infrastructure and technological expertise closer to private higher education institutions.

Under the partnership, private higher education institutions will have access to a range of digital solutions designed to improve connectivity, information sharing, data security and institutional efficiency.

The solutions include reliable broadband connectivity to facilitate access to digital resources and services, as well as campus interconnection to enable the secure and seamless exchange of information between institutions.

The partnership will also provide secure and sovereign data hosting services intended to strengthen the protection and control of institutional data, alongside digital solutions tailored to the operational needs of private higher education institutions.

CAMTEL Managing Director Judith Yah Sunday epse Achidi stressed the importance of quality connectivity for educational institutions, saying it is “necessary, even essential” to enable university communities to improve the quality of teaching.

The agreement is intended to support the modernisation of Cameroon’s private higher education sector by providing institutions with technology and infrastructure capable of supporting digital learning, administration and communication.

CAMTEL and ANIPES said the partnership reflects a shared ambition to build a private higher education system that is more connected, secure, efficient and focused on innovation.
