Ghana’s MobileMoney Fintech
Limited CEO, Shaibu Haruna, took a prominent role on Day Two of the MTN Group
Fintech Summit 2026, joining fellow MTN Fintech CEOs for a panel discussion on
the current state and future direction of Africa’s fintech markets.
Haruna participated in the
session, “Africa’s Velocity Index: Where MTN Fintech 14 Markets Stand Today
(MoMo),” alongside Phrase Lubega of MoMo Uganda, Komba Malukutila of MoMo
Zambia and Alain Nono of MoMo Cameroon.
Drawing on his leadership of
MoMo Ghana and experience in financial technology, digital payments and the
African fintech ecosystem, Haruna contributed to discussions on how the
continent can move from strong mobile money adoption towards deeper and more inclusive
financial services.
The panel examined progress
across digital payments, mobile money, merchant acceptance, ecosystem readiness
and advanced financial services, with particular attention to what markets need
to accelerate growth and deliver greater value to customers.
Haruna’s contribution
brought Ghana’s mobile money experience into the broader continental
conversation, highlighting the importance of building stronger digital
ecosystems that expand financial inclusion and provide customers
and businesses with more comprehensive financial solutions.
The panel formed part of a
wider programme at the MTN Group Fintech Summit, following discussions on
Regulatory and Policy Day, which brought together regulators, policymakers and
industry leaders to examine digital credit, data governance, artificial intelligence,
consumer trust and regulatory innovation.
Held under the theme
“Maximum Velocity As One,” the summit brings together leaders across the fintech ecosystem to explore how innovation, market readiness, and effective
regulation can accelerate Africa’s digital financial transformation.
