Kenya is working with the
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to strengthen capacity-building
networks at secondary school level as part of efforts to nurture the next
generation of science and technology leaders.
Principal Secretary in
Kenya’s State Department for Science, Research and Innovation, Prof. Shaukat
Abdulrazak, held discussions with Amal Elrefaei, Programme Management Officer
for the AFRA RAF 0065 regional project under the IAEA Technical Cooperation Programme.
The discussions focused on
creating and strengthening networks that can support capacity building among
secondary school students and help develop future leaders, particularly by
creating opportunities for young people from humble beginnings.
Prof. Abdulrazak said Kenya
is committed to taking a leading role in advancing the initiative and working
closely with AFRA State Parties to strengthen cooperation and capacity
development.
The engagement highlights
the importance of early investment in science, research and innovation
education and the role of regional partnerships in creating a stronger pipeline
of young talent.
