Twenty Spanish teachers from
Côte d’Ivoire’s Ministry of National Education, Literacy and Technical
Education (MENAET) are returning to Abidjan on Saturday, August 29, 2026, after
completing a two-week language and cultural training programme in Spain.
The programme provided 40
hours of intensive training aimed at strengthening the teachers’ Spanish
language proficiency and pedagogical skills as part of the Advanced Development
Programme.
During their stay, the
teachers participated in a range of academic and cultural activities designed
to deepen their knowledge of the Spanish language and culture. The programme
included engagements with Ivorian diplomats posted in Spain, lessons on Spanish
gastronomy, training in artificial intelligence, practical teaching exercises
conducted in front of students, as well as sessions on history and geography.
Artificial intelligence and
sports were also incorporated into the programme, with AI training forming part
of the course content and sporting activities included to maintain group
engagement and cohesion.
A major highlight of the
stay was the immersion of the teachers in Spanish families in Salamanca, a
historic city in western Spain. The experience provided the participants with
an opportunity to experience Spanish culture directly while creating space for
cultural exchange and interaction.
The language stay was
designed to complement classroom-based learning with practical exposure,
enabling the teachers to develop both their communication abilities and
pedagogical approaches.
