Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, Hon. William
Kabogo has toured Konza Technopolis to reinforce partnerships aimed at
accelerating the development of Kenya’s flagship smart city project. He was
joined by Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Hon. Rebecca Miano, and
Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry, Hon. Lee Kinyanjui.
The visit
underscored the government’s commitment to positioning Konza Technopolis – also
known as Kenya’s Silicon Savannah – as a leading African hub for technology,
tourism, and industrial investment. As a cornerstone of Kenya’s Vision 2030,
the city is being developed with world-class infrastructure, green energy
solutions, affordable housing, and modern conferencing facilities designed to
attract both investors and digital tourists.

Officials noted
a whole-of-government approach and robust public-private partnerships as
essential to realizing Konza’s potential as not only the largest smart city in
Africa but also a global innovation destination. The delegation included
Government Spokesperson Dr. Isaac Mwaura, Senate ICT Committee Chair Hon. Allan
Chesang, Principal Secretaries Eng. John Kipchumba Tanui and Dr. Juma Mukhwana,
Data Commissioner Immaculate Kassait, KICC CEO James Mwaura, Ag. CEO of the
Tourism Fund David Mwangi, and other senior leaders.
The
collaborative effort highlights Kenya’s strategic focus on leveraging
technology and multi-sectoral synergy to drive sustainable economic growth,
enhance regional competitiveness, and establish Konza as a model for urban
innovation and digital transformation in Africa.
