The ICT Authority, in collaboration with the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, has hosted a high-level delegation from the World Bank to review the significant strides made under the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Project (KDEAP).

The delegation, led by Dr. Michel Rogy, the World Bank’s Regional Practice Director for Digital, received a comprehensive status update on the transformative initiative. The discussions centered on the project's pivotal role in advancing Kenya’s digital agenda and solidified the World Bank’s continued and robust support for its implementation.

Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Information, Communications and The Digital Economy, William Kabogo, noted the government's dedication to the project's success. "KDEAP is a cornerstone of our national development strategy. This partnership with the World Bank is instrumental in bridging the digital divide and creating opportunities for all Kenyans," he stated.

The meeting highlighted the project's commendable progress across several key areas, including the nationwide expansion of high-speed internet connectivity, the enhancement of digital education and government services, and the critical development of a skilled digital workforce to drive economic growth and regional integration.

Principal Secretary for ICT and the Digital Economy, John Kipchumba Tanui, also disclosed that the government is leveraging existing infrastructure to fast-track broadband rollout. "Our focus is on ensuring inclusive digital access. While the government is committed to connecting all public institutions, we are also fostering an environment where the private sector can thrive and extend these benefits to communities and end-users," he said.

Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Mr. Steve Isaboke, EBS, and Ag. CEO of the ICT Authority, Ms. Zilpher Owiti, were also present, alongside senior officials from the World Bank.
