African Telecommunications Institute concludes council Meeting in Nairobi

The African Advanced Level Telecommunications Institute has successfully concluded its 70th Governing Council Meeting, bringing together member states from across the continent to strategize Africa's digital future. The gathering in Nairobi reinforced AFRALTI's role as a vital platform for research, innovation, and regional cooperation in information and communication technologies.

Delegates from Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Mozambique, South Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Eswatini, The Gambia, and South Africa participated in the high-level meeting. The council recognized significant achievements in connectivity expansion, Internet of Things implementation, artificial intelligence adoption, and startup ecosystem development across member states.

The meeting noted that AFRALTI serves as more than a training institution—it functions as a unifying force that shapes Africa's ICT landscape through collaborative initiatives and knowledge sharing. Council members celebrated milestones reached while addressing the persistent digital skills gap that continues to challenge the continent's technological advancement.

A strong call to action emerged from the proceedings, focusing on expanding membership, strengthening regional partnerships, and ensuring digital inclusivity for women, youth, and underserved communities. Kenya, as host nation, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting AFRALTI's growth and development, aligning with the shared continental vision of building a more resilient and connected Africa.

The council concluded with renewed determination to drive Africa's digital transformation through collective action and cooperation. The meeting established a clear framework for addressing both current challenges and future opportunities in the rapidly evolving telecommunications sector, ensuring that member states remain prepared for technological advancements and global digital shifts.
