Vodacom
Tanzania has unveiled its comprehensive Environmental, Social, and Governance
Report for 2024/25, showcasing the telecommunications company's substantial
contributions to national development beyond connectivity services. Chief
Executive Officer, Philip Besiimire launched the report emphasizing Vodacom's
commitment to creating tangible impact across Tanzanian society through various
strategic initiatives.

The report
highlights remarkable achievements including life-saving interventions through
the m-mama program that has improved maternal and child health outcomes,
digital skills development for young women through the Code Like a Girl
initiative, and expanded network access through 471 new 4G sites connecting
previously underserved rural communities. Additionally, the company's financial
inclusion efforts have facilitated TZS 1.5 trillion in Songesha loans, enabling
families and businesses to achieve economic stability and growth.
Vodacom's ESG
strategy directly supports Tanzania's national development framework,
particularly Pillar 4 of the Digital and Information Communication Technology
Revolution Agenda 2050, which focuses on digital transformation. The company's
investments in ICT infrastructure, digital literacy programs, and innovative
financial services align with the national vision for inclusive growth,
economic competitiveness, and resilience in an increasingly digital economy.
The launch
event brought together government officials, private sector partners, and
development stakeholders, including Hon. Prof. Kitila Mkumbo and
representatives from Mwananchi Communications Ltd. These collaborations
underscore the importance of multi-stakeholder partnerships in achieving
meaningful social impact and national development objectives.

Vodacom's
commitment to environmental sustainability, social development, and ethical
governance reflects a growing recognition among leading corporations that
long-term business success is intrinsically linked to the wellbeing of the
communities they serve. The report documents progress in reducing environmental
impact, promoting digital inclusion, and maintaining high standards of
