Ghana’s
Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations has officially
launched the 2025 National ICT Week Celebration at the Accra International
Conference Centre. The Deputy Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and
Innovations, Hon. Mohammed Adam Sukparu, in his official address reaffirmed the
nation's commitment to digital leadership during the opening ceremony.

Speaking on
behalf of Sector Minister Samuel Nartey George, Hon. Sukparu emphasized Ghana's
strategic advantages including its central location, youthful population, and
rapidly expanding technology ecosystem. The event, organized by the National
Information Technology Agency, gathered innovators, policymakers, and industry
partners to explore the theme "Ghana as Africa's Digital Trade Hub –
Innovation, Policy and Partnerships for the Future."
The Deputy
Minister outlined comprehensive government initiatives designed to build a
knowledge-driven economy, highlighting the One Million Coders Programme, Ghana
Tech Lab, and significant investments in STEM education. These programs form
part of a broader strategy to develop homegrown talent capable of driving
digital innovation and competing in the global digital economy.
He announced
forthcoming policy measures aimed at promoting digital inclusion, enhancing
cybersecurity, expanding e-commerce capabilities, and strengthening data
protection frameworks. The Deputy Minister also revealed that the government
will present an Innovations and Start-up Bill in the next parliamentary
session, offering legal and financial incentives for innovation-led
enterprises. Additionally, amendments to NITA's legislation will empower the
agency to function as an independent digital regulator.

Emphasizing the
critical importance of "digital trust" as the foundation of digital
trade, the Deputy Minister disclosed that NITA has been tasked with
collaborating with the National Communications Authority, Cyber Security
Authority, and Data Protection Commission to establish a national digital trust
framework. This initiative aims to create a secure and reliable digital
environment that can support cross-border digital trade and commerce.
