The United Nations Office of
Information and Communications Technology (UN-OICT) and the Food and
Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) have brought together 110
participants across 22 teams in Doha, Qatar, for a four-day hackathon focused
on applying artificial intelligence (AI) to agriculture.
The latest edition of Reboot
the Earth centred on the theme of Agriculture and AI, with participants
developing solutions for crop and site suitability, cold-chain monitoring and
food-loss reduction.
The hackathon was organised
by UN-OICT and FAO in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar
and the Hamad Bin Jassim Center for Computer Science Education.
Participants received
support from experts and mentors in open source, artificial intelligence,
sustainability and building applications with AI as they worked on solutions to
agricultural challenges.
Two teams were named
co-champions at the end of the event, while all 22 teams presented solutions
developed during the four-day programme.
The organisers congratulated
the participating teams and thanked those who contributed to the event.
