Kenya has formally joined
the Clean Cooking Alliance (CCA), following its integration into the
International Energy Agency (IEA) as a multilateral platform aimed at
accelerating access to clean cooking globally.
Kenya’s admission was
welcomed by Amb. Ali Mohamed during the 2nd CCA Plenary Meeting, where he
described the move as a natural progression of the country’s longstanding
collaboration with the IEA and CCA to advance its clean cooking transition
agenda.
The Alliance provides a
platform to strengthen country-led implementation, collective action, mutual
learning and coordination among governments, development partners and financing
institutions.
Kenya said it would work
with the IEA, fellow Alliance members and partners to accelerate clean cooking
access and support the implementation of clean cooking initiatives.
The country also expressed
its commitment to making the 2nd Africa Clean Cooking Summit, scheduled to take
place in Nairobi in January 2027, a “true moment of delivery.”
Kenya’s membership comes as
countries and development partners seek to strengthen international cooperation
and accelerate progress towards wider access to clean cooking solutions.
