The Nigerian Communications
Commission (NCC) has hosted the Nigeria Digital Connectivity Investment Forum
in Abuja, bringing together government officials, investors, regulators and
industry stakeholders to discuss investment in Nigeria’s digital
infrastructure.
The forum, organised by the
NCC in collaboration with Swedfund International AB and Ookla, is focused on
identifying investment opportunities and addressing barriers to digital
infrastructure deployment as Nigeria seeks to expand connectivity and strengthen
its digital economy.
Among the officials and
industry leaders at the forum were Mr. Tristan Muhader, Vice President Middle
East and Africa OOKLA; Dr. Vincent Olatunji, National Commissioner and CEO,
Nigeria Data Protection Commission, NDPC; Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice Chairman/Chief
Executive Officer, Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC; Dr. Jumoke Oduwole,
Hon. Minister of Industry, Trade and Investments; Mr. Bolaji Bologun, CEO
Chapel Hill Denham; Ambassador Anna Westerholm, Swedish Ambassador to Nigeria;
and Mr. Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Director General, National Information
Technology Development Agency, NITDA.
The event comes as the NCC
seeks increased public and private sector investment in telecommunications
infrastructure to accelerate broadband expansion, improve service quality and
support Nigeria’s growing digital economy.
The two-day forum, scheduled
for September 29–30, provides a platform for regulators, investors,
infrastructure providers and development partners to examine the investment
requirements for expanding digital connectivity and explore partnerships to
accelerate digital transformation.
