MTN South Africa has
celebrated the graduation of 80 young people from the Western Cape who have
successfully completed its Digital Skills for Digital Jobs (DS4DJ) programme,
gaining accredited qualifications in key technology fields.
The graduates, selected from
623 applicants, completed training in Data Analytics, Systems Development and
Cybersecurity, equipping them with industry-relevant skills to pursue
opportunities in South Africa’s growing digital economy.
Women accounted for 63% of
the graduating cohort, highlighting the programme’s focus on promoting greater
inclusion and participation in the technology sector.
The DS4DJ programme is an
initiative of the MTN South Africa Foundation and MTN Skills Academy, delivered
in partnership with government institutions, non-profit organisations, higher
education institutions and training partners.
Over the past two years, the
programme has supported more than 1,600 young South Africans with accredited
digital skills aimed at improving employability, encouraging entrepreneurship
and expanding access to opportunities created by the digital economy.
MTN South Africa said the
initiative forms part of its broader commitment to addressing the digital
skills gap and creating pathways for young people to participate meaningfully
in the technology-driven future.
The company noted that
building a digitally inclusive society requires investment not only in
connectivity but also in human capital development, ensuring that individuals
have the skills needed to take advantage of emerging opportunities.
The latest graduates join a
growing network of digitally skilled professionals contributing to South
Africa’s innovation ecosystem and digital transformation agenda.
