Côte
d’Ivoire has begun consultations to modernise its postal sector legal framework
as the country seeks to align regulations with technological developments and
the evolving demands of the digital economy.
The
Authority for Regulation of Telecommunications/TIC (ARTCI) launched a four-day
consultation workshop on the postal legal framework, at the Azalaï Hotel in
Abidjan.
The
workshop brings together key stakeholders in the postal sector to review
existing regulations, identify emerging challenges and develop recommendations
aimed at creating a more efficient, inclusive and competitive postal ecosystem.
The opening
ceremony was attended by Roger Felix Adom, President of the Regulatory Council
of ARTCI; Lakoun Ouattara, Director General of ARTCI; and Stanislas Kanvoli,
representing the Minister of Digital Transition and Technological Innovation.
Addressing
participants, the officials emphasised the importance of establishing a modern
legal framework that supports innovation, strengthens postal services and
enables the sector to contribute effectively to Côte d’Ivoire’s digital
transformation agenda.
The
consultation forms part of ARTCI’s efforts to ensure that postal regulations
respond to changes brought about by digital technologies, e-commerce growth and
new models of service delivery.
During the
first day of the workshop, Mrs. Korotoumou Diabaté, Director of Postal
Regulation at ARTCI, presented the objectives of the engagement, outlining the
need for collaborative discussions to identify practical solutions for the
sector’s development.
The
programme also featured a keynote session moderated by Isaac Gnamba-Yao, a
member of the ARTCI Regulatory Council, focusing on key issues affecting the
future of postal services.
Over the
four-day workshop, stakeholders are expected to examine regulatory gaps,
discuss opportunities for innovation and formulate recommendations to
strengthen the role of the postal sector within the digital economy.
