A third-year Computer
Engineering student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology
(KNUST), Charles Amoani-Antwi, has received the International Exploit Award at
the Fourth Vice-Chancellor’s Student Excellence Awards (VCSEA).
The award, introduced by the
Vice-Chancellor, recognises students whose achievements have brought
international recognition and distinction to the university.
Amoani-Antwi was among 55
students honoured during the ceremony, which celebrated outstanding
achievements in academic excellence, leadership, innovation and community
service.
He received the
International Exploit Award in recognition of his accomplishments in several
international competitions, including his outstanding performance in the 2025
Project Green Challenge (PGC).
In October 2025,
Amoani-Antwi emerged at the top of the Project Green Challenge leaderboard,
competing against thousands of participants from around the world. His
performance earned him a place among 14 global finalists who continued
developing climate action projects as part of the competition.
Following months of project
development and evaluation, he placed third overall during the finalists’
review held in March 2026.
Beyond his achievements in
sustainability and innovation competitions, Amoani-Antwi has also demonstrated
excellence in other fields, including winning a gold medal in Scrabble at the
Inter-University Games in November 2025.
He has also earned
recognition through participation in various data science competitions, further
highlighting his versatility and commitment to innovation and problem-solving.
The Fourth Vice-Chancellor’s
Student Excellence Awards was held under the theme, “Celebrating Students’
Exploits: Honouring Academic Excellence, Leadership and Innovations,” and
recognised students across more than 40 categories for achievements recorded
between 2024 and 2026.
The Department of Computer
Engineering at KNUST congratulated Amoani-Antwi on the achievement, describing
his recognition as a reflection of the talent and innovation emerging from the
department and the university.
The department expressed
confidence that he will continue to represent KNUST on the global stage through
further contributions in technology, research and innovation.
