Senegal’s Telecommunications Minister engages Expresso Senegal

Senegal’s Minister of Telecommunications and Digital Affairs, Samba Diouf, has continued his engagement with key industry stakeholders through a working visit to Expresso Senegal, where discussions focused on the future of the telecommunications sector and the implementation of the country’s New Deal Technologique strategy.

The meeting formed part of the minister’s ongoing consultations with strategic players in the digital ecosystem aimed at strengthening collaboration and accelerating Senegal’s digital transformation agenda.

During the visit, executives of Expresso Senegal provided an overview of the company’s journey since it began operations in Senegal in 2009, highlighting major milestones in its development and its current position within the national telecommunications market.

The company also outlined its vision for the future, emphasizing its commitment to delivering accessible and innovative telecommunications services to individuals, businesses, and public institutions across the country.

Discussions focused on Expresso Senegal’s growth strategy, including an ambitious investment programme designed to strengthen digital infrastructure and support the expansion of connectivity services nationwide.

According to company officials, the operator plans to play a significant role in advancing Senegal’s digital economy by accelerating connectivity for businesses and government institutions, enhancing services for economic actors, and contributing to the deployment of next-generation technologies, including 5G networks, by 2030.

Minister Diouf reiterated that the success of the New Deal Technologique depends on strong collaboration among all telecommunications operators and stakeholders. He noted that expanding connectivity, increasing digital adoption, improving service quality, and accelerating the digital transformation of both public and private sectors remain central priorities of the government’s strategy.

The minister also commended Expresso Senegal for its contribution to the country’s digital development and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working closely with industry players to build a modern, inclusive, and high-performing digital ecosystem.
