EthSwitch, Ethiopia’s
national payment switch, has partnered with and sponsored the Fourth Annual
International Conference on Cybersecurity and AI (ICCA 2026), reaffirming its
commitment to strengthening cybersecurity and digital trust within the country’s
rapidly evolving financial ecosystem.
The two-day conference,
being held at the UNECA Conference Centre in Addis Ababa, brings together
policymakers, regulators, cybersecurity experts, financial institutions,
fintech companies and infrastructure stakeholders from across Africa to discuss
emerging challenges and opportunities in cybersecurity and artificial
intelligence.
EthSwitch said its
sponsorship of the event reflects the organization’s focus on enhancing
cybersecurity, infrastructure resilience and trust across Ethiopia’s national
payment system. The company noted that secure digital infrastructure remains
essential as the country continues its transition toward a more digital and
cash-light economy.
As the operator of
Ethiopia’s national payment switching platform, EthSwitch plays a central role
in enabling interoperability among financial institutions and supporting the
delivery of secure and efficient digital payment services. The organization has
also been actively involved in efforts to expand financial inclusion and
facilitate instant payment solutions across the country.
Through its participation in
ICCA 2026, EthSwitch aims to strengthen collaboration with regulators, banks,
fintech firms and critical infrastructure providers to address cybersecurity
risks and promote the secure growth of digital financial services.
The conference provides a
platform for stakeholders to exchange knowledge, share best practices and
explore innovative approaches to protecting digital systems as artificial
intelligence and digital technologies become increasingly integrated into
financial and economic activities.
EthSwitch said the
partnership aligns with its broader objective of supporting a resilient and
trusted digital payments ecosystem capable of meeting the needs of Ethiopia’s
growing digital economy.
