Kenya’s
Special Envoy for Climate Change, Ali Daud Mohamed has been awarded the 2025
Gusi Peace Prize, an international honour often referred to as the “Asian Nobel
Peace Prize.” The award, presented annually by the Gusi Peace Prize Foundation
and endorsed under Philippine Presidential Proclamation No. 1476, recognises
individuals and organisations making significant global contributions to peace
and human progress.

Mr.
Mohamed was named among 17 laureates from around the world celebrated for
achievements across diverse fields. The judging panel cited his leadership in
championing Africa’s role in global climate action and sustainable development.
In
his acceptance remarks, he noted that peace extends beyond the absence of
conflict, stressing that maintaining a stable, fair, and liveable planet is
integral to global peace. He added that climate diplomacy has become central to
peace diplomacy, arguing that meaningful climate action reduces risks that
drive conflict, supports more equitable and resilient economies, and offers
young people a sense of shared purpose.

He
expressed gratitude for the recognition and dedicated the award to his family,
friends, and colleagues who continue to support collective efforts toward
climate action and climate justice.
