The Westerwelle Foundation
has held discussions with Rwanda’s Ministry of ICT and Innovation on
strengthening collaboration, creating more growth opportunities for Rwandan
startups and positioning the country as a strategic gateway to East Africa and
the broader continent.
The discussions took place
during a courtesy visit by the Westerwelle Foundation team to the Minister of
State for ICT and Innovation, Yves N. Iradukunda.
During the visit, the
foundation’s Regional Expansion Lead, Sarah Rukundo, introduced Albert Mugisha
as the new Country Director of Westerwelle Startup Haus Kigali. The meeting was
also attended by the organisation’s Programme Manager, Nini Rose Moru.
The engagement focused on
exploring opportunities to strengthen cooperation in support of Rwanda’s
startup ecosystem and create an environment where local entrepreneurs can
access the support, connections and opportunities needed to grow their
businesses.
The Westerwelle Foundation
said it believes in the potential of Rwandan entrepreneurs and the impact they
can create when given the right support, connections and opportunities.
The organisation expressed
its commitment to building on the discussions and continuing to contribute to a
stronger, more connected and thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem in Rwanda.
