Ethiopia's Information
Network Security Administration (INSA), in collaboration with the
Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), has conducted specialised
cybersecurity awareness training for entrepreneurs, technology startups and
Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as part of activities marking the
country's 7th National Cybersecurity Month.
The training focused on
introducing practical and low-cost cybersecurity defence mechanisms, mitigating
operational risks and protecting critical business data, while helping
businesses build customer trust and strengthen their market competitiveness.
Speaking on behalf of INSA,
Dr. Tilahun Ejigu said MSMEs were integral to Ethiopia's Digital Ethiopia
strategy and that securing them was vital to strengthening the country's
national cybersecurity posture.
"MSMEs are integral to
the 'Digital Ethiopia' strategy; securing them is vital to bolstering our
national cybersecurity posture," Ejigu said.
He added that the initiative
played a key role in raising Ethiopia's standing on the International
Telecommunication Union (ITU) Global Cybersecurity Index.
The training was highlighted
by participants for its value in improving cybersecurity awareness and
equipping businesses with practical measures to address digital security risks.
The programme forms part of
the 7th National Cybersecurity Month, which is being observed across various
national institutions in Ethiopia, with activities aimed at strengthening
cybersecurity awareness and preparedness.
