The Commonwealth
Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) has expanded its network of strategic
partners through six cooperation agreements signed during its 125th anniversary
celebrations in September 2026, strengthening collaboration on digital
connectivity, cybersecurity, technical assistance and capacity development
across the Commonwealth.
The agreements were signed
with the SubOptic Foundation, the Internet Society, the Institute of Electrical
and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), K Labs, the American Registry for Internet
Numbers Ltd. (ARIN) and the Caribbean Agency for Justice Solutions.
The partnerships create a
platform for joint initiatives, professional development, technical assistance
and the exchange of best practices across the Commonwealth.
They also reinforce the
CTO’s commitment to supporting members as they navigate an evolving digital
landscape, providing access to a broader range of expertise, resources and
knowledge-sharing opportunities.
As members seek to harness
emerging technologies, expand digital connectivity, strengthen regulatory
frameworks and enhance cybersecurity, engagement with specialised partner
organisations is expected to help provide practical solutions and access to global
expertise.
The agreements will also
support the CTO’s training and capacity-development programmes while
encouraging dialogue and cooperation among governments, regulators, industry,
academia and technical communities.
The CTO said the
partnerships are founded on principles of mutual value and shared purpose,
allowing partner organisations to advance their strategic objectives, broaden
the reach of their programmes and contribute their expertise to priority
digital challenges.
In turn, the CTO and its
members will benefit from access to global knowledge, technical resources and
innovative approaches, with the exchange of capabilities, experience and
networks intended to deliver meaningful benefits for all parties.
Beyond the immediate
benefits, the partnerships are expected to create further opportunities to
advance member priorities, strengthen institutional and technical capabilities,
and support inclusive and sustainable digital transformation.
The CTO said the new
alliances reflect its belief that the most effective solutions to shared
challenges are achieved through cooperation and collective action.
The organisation said the
partnerships provide a foundation for expanding its reach, enhancing the value
delivered to members and helping to build a more connected, resilient and
digitally empowered Commonwealth.
