Kenya and South Korea have
discussed opportunities to deepen collaboration in research and artificial
intelligence, as part of efforts to strengthen technology diplomacy and advance
innovation that delivers public value.
The discussions took place
during a bilateral meeting between Ambassador Philip Thigo, Special Envoy on
Technology for the President of the Republic of Kenya, and South Korea’s
Ambassador to Kenya, Kang Hyung-shik, on the margins of the Africa Technology
Leadership Conference at Eka Hotel in Nairobi.
The conference was led by
Prof. Shaukat Abdulrazak, Principal Secretary for Science, Research and
Innovation.
Thigo said the conversation
focused on connecting institutions and expertise to build capability and
advance innovation that delivers public value.
The two sides also discussed
cooperation around Responsible AI in the Military Domain (REAIM), including the
possibility of establishing a troika to strengthen engagement, coordination and
continuity across the process.
“Further consultations offer
an opportunity to shape this proposal around practical cooperation, human
agency and responsible decision-making,” Thigo said.
