MTN Benin has been named the Francophone Africa Regional Winner at the 2026 Y’ello Care Awards, recognising its contribution to MTN Group’s employee volunteerism programme focused this year on expanding equitable access to healthcare. The award was received by MTN Benin Chief Executive Officer Uche Ofodile.

The award was announced during MTN Group’s Ambassadors’ Appreciation Dinner, attended by South Africa’s Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Solly Malatsi, alongside ambassadors, high commissioners and representatives of development institutions and international organisations from across MTN’s markets.

This year, more than 6,000 MTN employees contributed over 50,000 volunteer hours to healthcare initiatives that reached more than 400,000 people under the theme “Expanding Equitable Health for Every Community”.

MTN Group Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer Nompilo Morafo said: “Expanding access to healthcare is not only a health imperative; it is essential to education, skills development, inclusion and sustainable growth. I am deeply grateful to every MTNer who gave their time and skills, and to the health workers, governments and communities who made this work possible.”

MTN Benin’s recognition formed part of the 2026 Y’ello Care Awards, which also named MTN Eswatini overall winner, MTN Uganda the SEAGHA Regional Winner and Bayobab the Platform Business Winner.

For 19 years, MTN’s Y’ello Care employee volunteerism programme has brought MTN employees together to give their time, skills and energy to the communities the Group serves.
