Mauritius has officially
unveiled the Mauritius Space Strategy 2036, establishing a strategic framework
to guide the development of the country’s space capabilities and strengthen the
role of space science and technology in national development.
The strategy and the new
Space Mauritius website were officially unveiled at the premises of the
Mauritius Research and Innovation Council (MRIC).
The event was held in the
presence of Dr the Honourable Kaviraj Sharma Sukon, Minister of Tertiary
Education, Science and Research, who officially unveiled the Space Mauritius
website.
The Mauritius Space Strategy
2036 is intended to guide the development of the country’s space capabilities
and strengthen the contribution of space science and technology to research,
innovation, economic development and national priorities.
The strategy comes as
Mauritius seeks to position itself to take advantage of opportunities emerging
from the rapidly evolving global space sector.
Alongside the strategy, the
Space Mauritius website will serve as a platform for sharing information on
Mauritius’ space activities, initiatives, opportunities and developments.
The platform is also
expected to foster greater collaboration among national and international
stakeholders involved in the country’s space ambitions.
The Mauritius Research and
Innovation Council said the milestone reflects Mauritius’ continued commitment
to advancing science, technology and innovation.
