The Pan-African Payment and
Settlement System (PAPSS) has convened its 20th Payment System Oversight
Committee (PSOC) Meeting and 14th Governing Council (PGC) Meeting in Nairobi,
Kenya, bringing together senior financial and payments officials from across
Africa.
The meetings were held on
the sidelines of the African Association of Central Banks (AACB) Annual
Meetings and brought together Governors, Deputy Governors, Directors of Payment
Systems and strategic partners from across the continent.
The engagements provided a
platform for participants to review the continued growth of the PAPSS network
and strengthen cooperation among participating countries.
Discussions also focused on
initiatives aimed at driving greater adoption and utilisation of PAPSS across
African markets as the continent seeks to advance trade and financial
integration.
The meetings come as the
PAPSS network continues to expand, increasing the need for closer coordination
among central banks, participating institutions and other strategic partners.
PAPSS said its engagements
with stakeholders are aimed at supporting the development of a more connected
and efficient payments ecosystem capable of facilitating transactions across
African markets.
The system continues to work
with central banks and partners to promote greater adoption and utilisation of
PAPSS and strengthen its role in supporting continental trade.
PAPSS said it remains
committed to building a more connected, efficient and inclusive payments
ecosystem for Africa as the network expands across the continent.
