Mali’s transitional
President Assimi Goïta has inaugurated the country’s new Centre for Artificial
Intelligence and Robotics in Kati as the country seeks to strengthen its
technological independence.
The new facility is expected
to train young people in technology while supporting the development of
solutions in key sectors including agriculture, health, security and mining.
The centre forms part of
Mali’s efforts to expand its national technological capabilities and develop
skills that can support the country’s growing focus on artificial intelligence
and robotics.
Through the training of
young people and the development of technology-based solutions, the facility is
expected to contribute to the country’s efforts to apply emerging technologies
to national development priorities.
The inauguration in Kati
marks another step in Mali’s drive to strengthen technological capacity and
reduce dependence on external expertise as it explores the potential of
artificial intelligence and robotics across strategic sectors.
