MoMo from MTN Uganda has
engaged the Bank of Uganda on strengthening financial inclusion and expanding
access to safe, affordable and convenient digital financial services.
The engagement took place
during a courtesy visit by MoMo Managing Director Phrase Lubega, General
Manager for Corporate Services Dennis Kakonge and Chief Financial Officer Sarah
Bateta Okwi to the Bank of Uganda, where they met Governor Dr Michael Atingi-Ego.
The meeting provided an
opportunity for the two sides to exchange views on developments in Uganda’s
financial services sector and discuss opportunities to deepen access to digital
financial solutions.
MoMo from MTN Uganda said
continued engagement between regulators and industry players is essential to
building trust, supporting responsible innovation and ensuring that digital
financial services respond to the needs of a wider section of the population.
The company noted that
financial inclusion requires collaboration across the financial services
ecosystem, particularly as digital technologies continue to reshape how
Ugandans access and use financial services.
The discussions also
reaffirmed the importance of maintaining an open dialogue between industry and
regulators as Uganda advances its digital economy.
MoMo from MTN Uganda said it
remains committed to working with stakeholders to expand financial inclusion
and create opportunities for more Ugandans to participate in the digital
economy.
