Nigeria’s Minister of
Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment
to expanding digital skills training to help young Nigerians compete, innovate
and thrive in an increasingly digital economy.
Alausa made the remarks
while participating in the Cisco Networking Academy Instructor Safari
Conference, where he spoke about the importance of preparing young Nigerians
with the skills needed to succeed in a rapidly changing digital world.
Under President Bola Ahmed
Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the government is expanding access to
industry-relevant training through the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal
Initiative (NESRI), initiatives such as the AWS Academy programme and the
Digital Training Academy (DTA).
According to Alausa, these
programmes are creating pathways to employment and entrepreneurship while
equipping more Nigerians with the digital skills required to participate in the
modern economy.
“The world is moving fast,
and our young people must not be left behind!” he said.
The minister expressed
appreciation to the Managing Director of the National Information Technology
Development Agency (NITDA), Cisco and their partners for supporting the
initiative.
“Our young people have the
talent. We must give them the tools and opportunities to succeed,” Alausa said.
