The MTN Ghana Foundation has
cut sod for the construction of a 60-bed, two-storey Accident and Emergency
Block at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Hospital in Breman Asikuma in Ghana’s
Central Region.
The project, described by
the Foundation as its largest emergency care initiative to date, forms part of
MTN Ghana’s efforts to support healthcare delivery and improve access to timely
medical services in underserved communities.
The sod-cutting ceremony was
performed by MTN Ghana Foundation Senior Manager for Sustainability and Social
Impact, Robert Kuzoe, together with the Central Regional Health Director, Dr.
Alberta Adjebeng Biritwum-Nyarko.
The new facility is expected
to expand the hospital’s capacity to provide emergency care and bring essential
medical services closer to residents of Breman Asikuma and surrounding
communities.
According to the Foundation,
the project will particularly benefit mothers, children and elderly residents
who may otherwise face lengthy journeys to access emergency medical care.
The initiative is being
implemented in partnership with Our Lady of Grace Catholic Hospital, the Ghana
Health Service and community leaders, reflecting a collaborative approach to
strengthening local healthcare infrastructure.
The project comes as MTN
Ghana marks 30 years of operations in the country, with the company positioning
its social investment initiatives as part of its broader contribution to
national development.
