Uganda’s Ministry of ICT and
National Guidance has convened a three-day sector retreat bringing together
agencies under the ministry to review performance, address challenges, and
align priorities for the 2026/27 Financial Year.
The retreat provides a
platform for stakeholders across the ICT sector to assess progress made,
identify areas requiring improvement, and develop strategies aimed at
accelerating Uganda’s digital transformation agenda.
Speaking at the opening of
the retreat, Minister for ICT and National Guidance, Rt. Hon. Justine Kasule
Lumumba, urged participants to engage in open discussions, strengthen
collaboration, and develop practical solutions that will improve service
delivery for citizens.
The Minister emphasised the
importance of adopting a whole-of-government approach, noting that the success
of individual institutions within the sector is interconnected and contributes
to the overall achievement of national development objectives.
She highlighted that recent
familiarisation visits by ministers to agencies under the ICT sector provided
valuable insights into the mandates, achievements, and priorities of different
institutions, creating a foundation for deeper engagement during the retreat.
Permanent Secretary of the
Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Aminah Zawedde, said the retreat
represents an opportunity for agencies to examine their work in greater detail
and identify ways to collectively deliver on the ministry’s mandate.
The three-day meeting is
expected to strengthen coordination among ICT sector institutions and support
the development of strategies that enhance digital services, innovation, and
technology-driven growth in Uganda.
