The Senegalese Agency for Space Studies (ASES) has concluded a working visit to Beijing aimed at strengthening space cooperation between Senegal and China and advancing the development of Senegal's national space capabilities.

The visit, which took place from 27 to 31 July 2026, formed part of ongoing efforts to deepen collaboration between the two countries in the space sector and explore opportunities to support Senegal's strategic development priorities through space technologies.

The delegation was led by Maram Kairé, Chief Executive Officer of ASES and a leading figure in Senegal's space ecosystem. During the visit, the delegation held meetings with key stakeholders within China's space industry and research community.

Discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, sharing expertise, and identifying areas for collaboration that could contribute to the growth of Senegal's space programme and the broader development of the country's technological capabilities.

The engagements also provided an opportunity for Senegalese representatives to learn from China's experience in developing space infrastructure, research programmes, and innovation ecosystems that support economic and social development.

The visit reflects Senegal's growing commitment to leveraging space science and technology to address national priorities and strengthen its position within Africa's emerging space sector.

Both sides expressed optimism about future cooperation, with the discussions expected to contribute to the continued development of partnerships that support capacity building, knowledge transfer, and the expansion of space-related initiatives in Senegal.
