MTN Rwanda has launched
Voice over Long-Term Evolution (VoLTE), marking a significant milestone in the
operator's ongoing network modernisation programme and efforts to enhance
customer connectivity across the country.
The new service enables
customers with compatible smartphones to make high-definition voice calls over
the operator's 4G LTE network while continuing to use mobile data during voice
calls.
According to MTN Rwanda, the
introduction of VoLTE will deliver clearer voice quality, faster call setup
times and a more seamless communication experience by allowing users to browse
the internet, stream content and access online services without interruption
while on a call.
The launch forms part of the
company's broader investment strategy aimed at strengthening Rwanda's digital
infrastructure and expanding access to next-generation mobile connectivity.
By leveraging its 4G network
for voice services, MTN Rwanda expects to improve overall network efficiency
while providing customers with enhanced call reliability and improved user
experience.
The deployment of VoLTE also
supports the operator's commitment to delivering advanced digital services that
meet the evolving communication needs of individuals, businesses and
communities.
As demand for high-speed
mobile services continues to grow, telecommunications operators across Africa
are increasingly investing in technologies that improve both voice and data
performance while laying the foundation for future network evolution.
MTN Rwanda said the launch
of VoLTE represents another step in its efforts to enable more people to
benefit from reliable digital connectivity and support the country's ongoing
digital transformation agenda.
