Students from 13
universities across Mozambique have advanced to the final stage of the third
edition of the M-Pesa Finckathon 2026 after four days of intensive learning,
collaboration and innovation focused on developing solutions for financial
inclusion.
Organised by Vodacom
Mozambique, the competition brought together young innovators from universities
across the country’s northern, central and southern regions to design
technology-driven solutions aimed at addressing financial challenges and
creating new opportunities for communities.
The participants reached the
final pitch stage after transforming identified challenges into innovative
concepts with the potential to contribute to the future of digital finance in
Mozambique.
Throughout the programme,
students engaged with industry leaders and gained insights into initiatives
designed to support their personal and professional development beyond the
competition.
Vodacom Mozambique said the
Finckathon has become a platform for nurturing young talent, encouraging
creativity and empowering a new generation of innovators to use technology as a
tool for social and economic impact.
Beyond the solutions
developed during the competition, the initiative highlighted the growing
potential of Mozambique’s youth to drive innovation and contribute to the
country’s digital transformation journey.
The winners of the third
edition of the M-Pesa Finckathon 2026 are expected to be announced following
the final pitch sessions, which will showcase the most promising ideas
developed by participating teams.
