Mozambique's communications
regulator, INCM – Autoridade Reguladora das Comunicações, has presented its
National Broadband and Coverage Planning Portal at the Esri User Conference
2026, highlighting the country's use of geospatial intelligence to support
telecommunications planning and digital inclusion.
The portal was showcased
during one of the world's largest conferences dedicated to Geographic
Information Systems (GIS), where Mozambique's experience was featured as an
international success story.
Ana Priscila Salomão, Head
of the Department of Studies, Development and Statistics at INCM, delivered the
presentation in partnership with Cellular Expert during a session focused on
innovative applications of GIS technologies.
The National Broadband and
Coverage Planning Portal is designed to strengthen transparency, support the
planning and expansion of telecommunications infrastructure, and improve
regulatory decision-making through the use of geospatial data and statistical
analysis.
According to INCM, the
platform integrates statistical information with geospatial intelligence to
provide regulators, policymakers and other stakeholders with data-driven
insights for expanding connectivity and improving access to telecommunications
services.
Mozambique's presentation
attracted interest from experts from several countries, who highlighted the
platform's integration of communications regulation with advanced geospatial
technologies.
The National Broadband and
Coverage Planning Portal is accessible through the INCM website and serves as a
resource for monitoring broadband coverage and supporting telecommunications
infrastructure development in Mozambique.
