Vodacom reaffirms long-term investment commitment during meeting with Mozambique President

Vodacom Group has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to investing in Mozambique following a high-level meeting with President Daniel Francisco Chapo, underscoring the company's confidence in the country's economic and digital transformation agenda.

The meeting brought together President Chapo and a Vodacom delegation led by Vodacom Group Chief Executive Officer Shameel Joosub. The delegation also included Chairman of International Markets Mohamed Abdallah, Vodacom Mozambique Board Chairman Salimo Abdula, Vodacom Mozambique Chief Executive Officer Simon Karikari and Executive Director for External Relations and Regulation Lara Narcy.

Discussions focused on Vodacom's continued investment plans and its role in supporting Mozambique's development through expanded connectivity, financial inclusion and digital transformation initiatives.

Vodacom said Mozambique remains a strategic market with significant growth potential and reaffirmed its intention to continue investing in telecommunications infrastructure and digital services aligned with the country's national development priorities.

The company noted that collaboration between government, the private sector and other stakeholders is essential to creating an enabling environment that supports investment, innovation, job creation and sustainable economic growth.

Speaking after the meeting, Simon Karikari welcomed the government's continued engagement with the private sector, noting that a stable, predictable and investment-friendly business environment provides companies with the confidence to expand infrastructure, create employment opportunities and accelerate innovation.

Vodacom said it remains committed to using technology to expand access to digital services, connect more people to the digital economy and contribute to inclusive social and economic development across Mozambique.

The company has operated in Mozambique for more than two decades and said it will continue to strengthen its investments to support the country's long-term digital and economic development objectives.
